Scotoil Services honoured with Gold at Healthy Working Lives Awards.

Scotoil Services Ltd have not only celebrated 30 years in business this year but picked up the Gold Healthy Working Lives award for the second time running.

One of only five companies in Grampian to be awarded this Scotoil employees, Gordon Graham, SHEQ Manager and Alison Shaw, Business Manager received the award on behalf of the company from Sir Lewis Ritchie, Director of Public Health (centre) at a glittering ceremony last week at The Hub, Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce, after successfully passing a rigorous assessment to secure another three years’ accreditation.

The Healthy Working Lives awards programme is designed to support employers and employees in the development of health promotion and safety themes in the workplace in a practical, logical method which is beneficial to all.

Gold award winners are required to prepare a three year strategy and a one year rolling action plan. These should demonstrate that the business has a clear long-term commitment and continued development strategy for the promotion of a healthy workplace. Companies must also include benchmarking of their performance.

Craig Smith, Managing Director at Scotoil Services comments, “Scotoil has long been an ambassador of health promotion in the workplace, having initially gained a bronze award in 1997, a silver in 1998, and a gold in 1999 when this initiative was known as Scotland’s Health at Work (SHAW). Since then, it has changed to Healthy Working Lives, and we have continued a vested interest towards keeping our workplace safe, healthy and an environmentally friendly surrounding. We became one of the first companies in Scotland to be awarded gold for the first time in 2009.

“Maintaining a gold standard in Healthy Working Lives is no mean feat and I would like to extend my congratulations to all our team here at Scotoil, who have worked to ensure we meet, maintain and strive towards bettering our working environment in future years.”
