Innovative Techniques Slash Decommissioning Costs and Enable Concrete Seabed Mattress Re-use

Scotoil (A Tradebe company) have developed an innovative approach to compliant re-use of concrete seabed mattresses, reducing transport and disposal costs for our customers.

Our ground-breaking decommissioning approach involves working with a local Port Authority, sampling and analysing the mattresses and liaising with the local SEPA Office. Once we are able to demonstrate that the mattresses would not cause environmental harm, we assist the Port Authority in registering an exemption under the Waste Management Licensing (Scotland) Regulations 2011.

Speaking about the success of the mattress decommissioning, Craig Smith, Tradebe Scotoil Managing Director said: “We have been providing specialist decontamination and waste management services to the UK Oil & Gas Sector for over 35 years so we understand the level of expertise required to successfully deliver this type of Project”.

“We are proud that some of our innovative and bespoke range of services are now being used widely across our industry.”

Tradebe as a group insists that sustainability is intrinsic to every part of our business: it is cemented in our company mission statement, and promoted through our core values of being customer oriented, results oriented, committed to people and environmentally friendly. We are delighted that our treatment techniques are able to contribute to a sustainable future for the oil and gas industry.
