| Scotoil Properties cleaned up 150 years
of contamination to bring the land back into use. |
As soon as the management buy-out was concluded,
the Scotoil Group's new management team instigated a detailed
assessment of the entire site.
This clearly identified the benefits of concentrating
the Scotoil Group operations on the Miller Street section
of the site, closest to Aberdeen Harbour.
Retail development was identified as providing
the return necessary return to fund the remediation costs
involved in cleaning up 150 years of historical contamination.
It was also seen as consistent with the adjacent leisure park
at Aberdeen Beach.
A bold plan was devised to purchase adjoining
land, enlarge the Scotoil site to 24 acres, and embark on
the redevelopment of the Scotoil site at Miller Street and
the Boulevard Retail Park on the beach frontage.
Scotoil Properties project managed the entire
programme, from the obtaining of planning permission, the
remediation through to site preparation and subsequent sale
of the retail park project.
